What is lampwork or flameworked glass? TOP

Lampwork or flameworked glass beads are formed with molten glass on a steel rod in front of a torch, one at a time.  Finished beads are kiln annealed for strength and long life.

What is fused glass? TOP
Fused glass is layers of glass melted together in a kiln.  Fused glass may be fired several times to add more layers and to "fire polish" the edges smooth, when desired.

What is dichroic glass? TOP

Dichroic glass has vaporized metal particles condensed onto sheets of glass, in a process developed by NASA.  Because each metal makes a different color, changing the layer order will create even more colors.

Amazingly, different colors are seen depending on how the light strikes the glass.  Fabrics surrounding the glass can also make the colors appear to change.  Dichroic glass can be flameworked or fused.

How are bracelets and necklaces strung? TOP
Bracelets and necklaces are strung on a 49 strand, stainless steel cable covered in nylon, secured with sterling crimp beads.  Beadalon Stringing Wire is extremely flexible, very strong and abrasion resistant.

Can earring findings be changed? TOP

Earrings can usually be changed to sterling post, lever back or wires.  Ask Clara about specific earrings.

Clip earring findings are also available for most earring styles.  Please ask about any additional costs, limitations and available metals.

What size are the bail openings? TOP

Most chains and cords will easily fit through pendant sterling and glass bails.  If you ask, Clara will give you bail opening size.

Sterling chains, leather and rubber cords, with sterling clasps, are available in this website through Shopping > Chains or Shopping > Cords.

How do I care for Clara's art jewelry? TOP

Respectful, reasonable care of your Jewelry by Clara will ensure years of enjoyment.  Store in zip plastic bags, to protect the jewelry from scratches and delay tarnish.  A good silver polishing cloth will safely remove tarnish and restore shine to the sterling, when needed.  After polishing, you may want to wash gently with soap and water, rinse and dry thoroughly.  Sunshine Polishing Cloths are available in Shopping > Other.

Avoid harsh liquid cleaners that can remove not only the tarnish, but also the design oxidation on sterling silver beads and findings.  Liquid cleaners are not recommended for fresh water pearls, some stones, wood or bone beads.
